A frequent radio and TV guest and collaborative writer, Sara is the coauthor of the 2005 Gold Medallion Finalist A Greater Freedom. The book is a great starting point for those wanting to recenter themselves in Christ's strength instead of their own. So often we as military wives try so hard to keep the home front running all on our own while our service members are deployed, this book gives us a good look at what we all try to do and a heartfelt reminder that we are not alone.-a third generation military wife
I highly recommend this book! It has been invaluable in helping me survive and thrive during my husband's deployment! It truly is a spiritual survival guide that allowed me to deepen my faith and relationship with God and my husband. I am so thankful for this book and the comfort it has provided me during my husband's deployment!!
I really loved the Tour of Duty bible study that is also written by Sara Horn, so I was excited to read this book. I read it within just two days by myself and really enjoyed it. I did find it to be somewhat repetitive at times but its repetition helped to reinforce the theme. One thing I did appreciate is the fact that Bible references were well explained for those of us who may not always recall a story by just a name or short description. If you are feeling in a funk, overwhelmed, or just need some inspiration I would recommend this book. I plan to go back through it after we finish a Tour of Duty Bible Study and read it as a group with other wives as well.
I am a new Army Wife. My husband join a year ago in February and we are now going threw our first Deployment. I found out that this book was being written and I waited for it to come out. :) I ordered it the day it was released and waited with excitement to read it. As I read God Strong, I see just how God Strong I have become over the years sense I gave my life to the Lord. I also see that its is ok to NOT have it all together just because I am an Army Wife. I can completely rely on God's Muscle to get threw this. He will get me to the top of this Mountain. I love the way that Sara wrote this book because in allot of ways it feels as tho we are sitting here in my living room talking. :) She places the reality of her life in this book in a way that I can relate to. I really enjoy the Survival Sister stories. To sit back and walk threw this moment in someone else's life is nice because I can feel connected and apply it to my life in some way. The Strength Builders and Strength Trainers are AMAZING because I can go deeper into God's Truth and sort threw my feelings. Some times in the mist of the storm we must look past how we FEEL and cling to what we KNOW!!! God Strong is a Wonderful tool to use to get to that place.. I would highly recommend this book to EVERYONE. Even Non Military because of the truth in it and how much this world needs to see it.. We all NEED TO BE GOD STRONG!!! :)
If you are a military wife, I don't care which branch, and you believe in God, BUY THIS BOOK!!! Sara is AMAZING!
Faceing recient challenges that come along with military life, I found myself feeling lost in emotional confusion and spirituly directionless not knowing what truthes to cling to to quiet my heart in order to find streingth and rest. This book was the very thing to help me wead through the tangled mess that was my heart, and find a solid place where I could stand. Unlike some that ive read this book was very aplicable to all familys from brances of military service when faceing deployment
My husband recently left on another deployment after being home for 6 months. I read this book during the first few weeks or so of him leaving (usually the hardest for me) and I found it incredibly encouraging. I actually plan to take some the verses provided at the end of each chapter and display them throughout my home as a reminders for me. I would recommend this book for any military wife!
So I am only a few chapters into the book but so far, it has made all the difference. My husband is currently serving in Iraq and I am currently running low on strength and faith. This book has already begun to change my outlook on what it means to be strong and what it means to be a Woman of God (and Military Wife). I suggest that any military wife currently going through or about to go through a deployment should read this book!
